Whilst hydration is key for the maintenance for many bodily matters, it’s especially crucial in the nurturing of textured hair. This is due to its tendency to swiftly dry out – and if this is allowed to remain, the hair becomes dry, brittle and tangled. As such, it’s necessary to take a multitude of precautions to ensure that this doesn’t occur. Should these tips be followed, you’ll surely see a drastic improvement in the health of your hair.
Firstly, the usage of water-based products can remedy this issue, as it enriches the hair with plenty of hydration. To add onto this, ensure you use a sulphate-free shampoo, as it is particularly helpful for dry and damaged hair.
A pre-poo is an excellent way to prevent future dryness (make sure to check out our other post, How do I Pre-Poo?) – it allows the hair to soak up all the beneficial moisture. Furthermore, wash day is best between 7-14 days, as washing your hair too often can lead to even more dryness.
Before bed, use a bonnet or silk pillowcase to keep the hair well coated – it also serves to prevent friction from the hair against the pillow, which invites dry hair.
